...COLDEST WEATHER SO FAR THIS SEASON TO ARRIVE BY TUESDAY AND

CONTINUE INTO THE THANKSGIVING WEEKEND...

THE FIRST SIGNIFICANT COLD SNAP OF THE SEASON IS EXPECTED TO

ARRIVE TONIGHT AND TUESDAY. THE COLD AIR WILL ARRIVE BEHIND A

SHARP COLD FRONT WHICH IS EXPECTED TO MOVE ACROSS SOUTHWEST

WASHINGTON AND NORTHWEST OREGON TONIGHT. BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES

ARE EXPECTED TO LINGER WELL INTO THE THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY WEEKEND.

SNOW LEVELS WILL START OFF BETWEEN 4000 AND 5000 FEET AHEAD OF THE

COLD FRONT THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING...THEN PLUMMET TO AROUND

1500 TO 2000 FEET AS SHOWERS CONTINUE IN THE COLD AIR BEHIND THE

FRONT TONIGHT AND TUESDAY. THIS MAY BE LOW ENOUGH TO AFFECT SOME

COAST RANGE PASSES AS WELL AS THE CASCADE FOOTHILLS.

WHILE SNOWFALL AMOUNTS WILL VARY...EARLY THANKSGIVING TRAVELERS

PLANNING A TRIP ACROSS THE COAST RANGE OR INTO THE CASCADES SHOULD

BE PREPARED FOR WINTER TRAVEL CONDITIONS. ACCUMULATING SNOW COULD

ALSO AFFECT PORTIONS OF INTERSTATE 5 SOUTH OF EUGENE TUESDAY AND

TUESDAY NIGHT.

SHOWERS WILL TAPER OFF TUESDAY NIGHT AS COLD HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS

INTO THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST. TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO FALL

QUICKLY TUESDAY NIGHT...POSSIBLY CAUSING ICY CONDITIONS FOR ALL

ELEVATIONS ACROSS SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON AND NORTHWEST OREGON AS WET

ROADWAYS REFREEZE.

COLD AND BLUSTERY WEATHER IS EXPECTED TO FOLLOW...CONTINUING WELL

INTO THE THANKSGIVING WEEKEND. TEMPERATURES MAY STRUGGLE TO RISE

ABOVE 40 DEGREES FOR THE LOWLANDS...WITH WIND CHILLS DIPPING INTO

THE TEENS AND 20S FOR MANY. EAST WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO BECOME

STRONG THROUGH THE COLUMBIA GORGE...WITH GUSTY WINDS POSSIBLY

AFFECTING THE PORTLAND METRO AREA BY THANKSGIVING DAY AND

CONTINUING FOR A GOOD PORTION OF THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND.

THOSE PLANNING TRAVEL THIS HOLIDAY WEEKEND SHOULD STAY TUNED TO

THE WEATHER BY VISITING WWW.WEATHER.GOV/PORTLAND OR THEIR FAVORITE

MEDIA OUTLET AS THIS SITUATION EVOLVES.
